Award-winning professional services from GMW Design

GMW Design is an award-winning architectural design practice based in Letterston, Pembrokeshire, who has won awards for exceptional professional services on projects completed throughout Wales, with clients from London and even as far afield as California.

Geraint Williams founded the business in 2009, having worked in the sector whilst still at school, and so is well versed in the industry and well-connected and respected amongst peers and contractors.

He says: “Being a sole practitioner, I can provide a more personal feel to the job. Everything goes through me and I end up knowing the project inside out.”

It’s due to Geraint’s hard work and dedication to each project that GMW Design was announced as the winner of ‘Best Site Construction Professional of The Year 2018 in Pembrokeshire’ at the recent Local Authority Building Control Cymru awards. The LABC awards cover all local authorities in England and Wales and are split into 12 regions, each of which holds their own awards. These awards are given to candidates that have not only demonstrated professional services but have overcome difficult challenges and exceeded in problem-solving as well as craftsmanship.  Click here to read local press coverage of the award.

With regard to the LABC award, Geraint said: “It was a great honour and very satisfying to have won the award for the best constructional professional of the year with the building control department. It’s good to know that clients appreciate the professional services that I provide.”

Geraint’s professional services also earned him the awards “Best Small Commercial Building in Carmarthenshire” and “Best All-Inclusive Building in Carmarthenshire” for a project completed at Burns Farm Shop in Kidwelly in 2017, where GMW Design helped a thriving business at the heart of a community to scale up their operations; doubling the size of the farm shop, installing a new industrial kitchen, and a pet shop. This fantastic build is also one of the first places in the West Wales area to meet the Changing Places  criteria to provide more space and the right equipment, including a height adjustable changing bench and hoist for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets. Geraint helped the owners to transform their humble but popular shop into a building befitting the scale of the business’ success – the new building would not look out of place on Grand Designs.
